Frank J. Ferraro, MD of Plastic Surgery Specialists of NJ located at 2 Sears Drive Suite 103 Paramus, NJ 07652 is watching the developments of Sientra implants closely. Dr. Ferraro has used Sientra implants for his breast augmentation patients without problem and the breast augmentation patients in Bergen County are very satisfied. The Brazilian authorities have temporarily closed the Silimed factory for increased particulate matter present on the implants. How long this will take to resolve and what risks exist for patients is yet to be determined.
Bergen County breast augmentation patients who have received Sientra implants need to do nothing at this point. No infections were experienced and the breast augmentation patients have not had any complications. The issue will resolve and end once we have further information and all the necessary answers to the practice techniques of Silimed have been realized. Plastic Surgery Specialists of NJ will not use the Sientra implants until this issue is fully resolved and has not recommended removal of the implants placed.
