The Brow Lift: Frequently Asked Questions

If you have sagging eyebrows, excess skin or fatty tissue that hangs over your eyes, it may be time to consider a brow lift. A brow lift procedure is an effective way to improve your appearance by making you look younger, and more relaxed and refreshed. What’s more it can help significantly boost your self-confidence by improving the way you see yourself. If you’re considering a brow lift, check out the most commonly asked questions about the procedure.

Who is a good candidate?
To undergo brow lift surgery, you must be a non-smoker in overall good health. It is also important that you avoid taking medications that can thin your blood at least two weeks before the procedure.

How much pain will I have?
Your doctor will administer an anesthetic prior to surgery that will keep you sedated and completely comfortable during surgery. Afterward, you will not experience immense pain, but you will likely be mildly sore and experience tightness across your forehead, which can be easily treated with medication.

Will I have to take time off?
Because you will have some swelling and bruising following your procedure, your doctor will recommend that you take approximately one to two weeks off to recover safely. At this time, you will also be instructed to abstain from exercise for at least three weeks following your surgery.

Is there scarring?
While there will be scars, they will reside in the hairline, so they will be well hidden by your hair. Once your hair grows through the scar, it will be virtually undetectable.

What are the risks of brow lift surgery?
As with any surgery, there are certain risks associated with a brow lift procedure. It may be possible to experience numbness in the forehead and scalp, which is almost always temporary; permanent numbness is extremely rare. Other risks include the chance of infection, mild bleeding and headache.
If you suffer from drooping eyebrows or an overall tired or angry appearance, a brow lift may be just the thing you need to rejuvenate your appearance.
