What exactly is a butt lift?
Butt  lift surgery (or gluteoplasty) is a surgical procedure the lifts and tightens the skin on your buttocks. Your surgeon removes excess tissue in the area and repositions it to create a more pleasing shape. The goal is to create a more normal appearance in the buttock area after the loss of skin elasticity or extreme weight loss.

Am I a good candidate?
Patients with large amounts of loose, hanging skin on the buttocks and the back of the upper thighs are generally the best candidates for butt lift surgery. Good candidates should also be non-smokers, in good overall health, at or near their ideal weight, and have realistic expectations about the outcome of the procedure.

How is a butt lift done?
Under general anesthesia, an incision is typically made on the upper part of the buttocks, although this may vary depending on the location and amount of extra fat and skin. The extra skin is then removed and the remaining skin is pulled into its new position. The incision are sutured closed and dressings are applied. Your doctor may also place temporary small tubes under your skin to help drain excess fluid or blood. The procedure is sometimes performed on an out-patient basis, but often it requires a 24-hour hospital stay.

What is the down time?
Most patients return to their regular activities after two weeks, but strenuous activity is discouraged for at least six weeks post-surgery.

When will I see results?
You will experience swelling, which will diminish within the first six weeks. You will notice gradual, improved results up to a year after surgery.
